From Deserted Island to Digital Powerhouse: The Edit Suite Gets a HUGE Upgrade!

Fresh off the adrenaline-fuelled shoot for Mad Max Boat Tours, our focus has shifted from the open ocean to the speed of our CPUs! We are thrilled to announce a significant upgrade to the JMA Films HQ: the installation of a brand new, high-end, absolute powerhouse machine in our main editing suite.

We’ve officially retired the old rig and brought in a beast designed to handle 8K footage, complex visual effects, and lightning-fast rendering without breaking a sweat (unlike the crew on that island).

    Speeding Through the Wasteland Edit

We celebrated the new hardware by immediately putting it to the ultimate test: finishing the high-energy Mad Max Boat Tours advertisement!

The sheer speed and processing power of this new machine meant we could slash our render times, allowing us to focus more on creative cuts, colour grading, and motion graphics. What might have taken days on the old rig was accomplished in hours.

The DaVinchi Studio and the EDIUS11 works like a charm, sometimes we have to double check the render is already done…

The result? The final ad is tight, fast, and exactly the kind of jaw-dropping action you’d expect from a boat tour named after a post-apocalyptic movie.

The Mad Max Boat Tours ad is now complete and ready for launch! Huge props to the team for the rapid turnaround, made possible by the new speed demon in the office.

Stay tuned for the launch date—you won’t want to miss this one.

From Europe’s Grandeur to… The Adventure!

It’s only been two weeks since we unpacked from our meticulous European coffee tour, but the JMA Films crew has already swapped historic cobblestones for sun-scorched sand! We’ve just wrapped a wild, high-octane ad shoot for our mates at Mad Max Boat Tours, and let’s just say, the production life is rarely boring.

To capture the true spirit of the Mad Max adventure—which, naturally, requires high speed, a lot of dust, and zero phone signal—we took our entire crew (and a very understanding boat captain) out to a remote, very unpopulated island just off the coast.

Crew Update: We Survived the Wilderness

To get the perfect dramatic shot, the team was strategically (and quite purposefully!) deposited on a desolate stretch of beach with nothing but our camera gear, a drone, and enough bottled water to last exactly one scorching midday. We like to call it “Method Filmmaking.”

Also, we still looking for our standard radio kit, which was borrowed, but not returned yet, so we needed to use something more girly but significantly less range (the boss`s girls walkie walkie-talkies)

For a few tense hours, the crew felt the true meaning of the word isolation, relying on sheer will and a few emergency high-protein bars. We’re happy to report that the boat returned exactly on schedule to retrieve its brave, slightly-sunburnt, and very sandy passengers!

The footage is epic, the adrenaline was high, and the final ad will be pure, unadulterated Brisbane adventure. Keep an eye out for it—it’s going to make you want to get very, very far away from the office.

Brisbane HQ Update: The European Coffee Quest Concludes with a Grand New Addition!

The JMA Films team is officially back in sunny Brisbane, wrapping up what was an immensely successful, month-long European location scouting tour across thousands of kilometres and over ten countries.

We are refreshed, fully briefed, and ready to dive into pre-production, but first—an essential upgrade to the HQ that was directly inspired by our journey: a brand new, professional-grade office coffee machine!

    The Rigorous European “Testing” Phase

After weeks spent driving over 7,000 km (sustainably, in our EV!) from Hong Kong, Franfurt, Salzburg, Wienna,Budapest, Venice, Florence, San Marino, Pisa, Cinque Terre, Monaco, Nice, Dijon, Versailles, Orleans to Paris, and through the Imperial Triangle, our team conducted what we’ll call a highly rigorous, quality assurance review of the continent’s finest caffeine.

This comprehensive, cross-border analysis confirmed what many coffee lovers already know: the simple, expertly pulled espresso remains the gold standard. And in this unofficial competition, Italy truly won the gold medal for its consistently perfect, high-octane brew.

Investing in the Spirit of the South

The verdict was unanimous: to maintain the energy and exacting standards we achieved on the road, our in-house coffee game had to be lifted to a professional level.

Our new machine is an investment in team morale, productivity, and our commitment to avoiding substandard coffee now that we’re back home. We can now ensure every script review, every edit, and every client meeting is fuelled by consistently excellent espresso, latte, or flat white—made right here in the office. (Cappuccino is only available before noon as standard… – only the boss can change the time zone to Italy)

Welcome home, team, and welcome to the new era of JMA Films coffee!

Now that we have the fuel, it’s time to build. Stay tuned for updates on which locations from our European tour will feature in our next major project.

Mission Accomplished: Over 7,000 km of Sustainable Scouting in Europe

The JMA Films European Location Scouting Tour has officially concluded! After more than one month crisscrossing the continent, the team is preparing to return to our Hong Kong and Australian bases with a stunning archive of visual data, logistical plans, and permits from some of Europe’s most iconic locations.

The Scope: From Florence to Paris

This extensive journey covered a diverse geographical and historical spectrum, building a comprehensive profile for our next production phase:

    • Italian Grandeur: Establishing the contrasts between the Renaissance power of Florence (Uffizi, Galileo Museum) and the Pisan Romanesque of Pisa.
    • The Ligurian Pivot: Moving to the vertical, ancient, and colourful resistance of the Cinque Terre villages.
    • Modernity & Monarchy: Transitioning to the high-stakes luxury of Monaco (F1, modern architecture) and the profound historical weight of Versailles (Louis, Napoleon, Trianon Treaty).
    • The French Heart: Capturing the historical defiance of Orléans and its modern solidarity, and concluding with the ultimate cinematic versatility of Paris (Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Montmartre).

Sustainable Commitment: 7,000+ Kilometres on Electric Power

We are proud to report that this entire overland scouting mission, spanning thousands of kilometres across multiple borders, was executed with a firm commitment to our sustainable production goals.

The team drove a total of more than 7,000 km powered entirely by a Tesla.

This achievement underscores our commitment to minimizing our carbon footprint in every stage of production. By prioritizing electric travel for this lengthy trip, we were able to focus on high-quality scouting while adhering to the environmental responsibilities central to the JMA Films mandate.

The breadth of locations now secured—from ancient terraces and medieval streets to modern skyscrapers and world-defining historical sites—combined with our sustainable travel approach, ensures our upcoming project will be both visually rich and ethically responsible.

We look forward to sharing our next steps as we move into pre-production.
