URGENT UPDATE: Temporary Closure Due to Tropical Cyclone Alfred
Our Team is Prepared, and Your Safety is Our Priority

As Tropical Cyclone Alfred makes its approach towards the South East Queensland coast, the safety of our team, clients, and community is JMA Films’ absolute priority.

In line with local government warnings and to allow our team to secure their homes and focus on their families, JMA Films will be temporarily closed for all in-person operations starting today (March 7) until it is safe to resume work. We are carefully monitoring updates from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) and local authorities. We will provide a new re-opening date as soon as the immediate threat has passed and it is safe for our team to return to the studio.

We Are Ready

We want to assure our clients that we have taken all necessary precautions to protect our ongoing projects, equipment, and data:
- Data Security: All project files and company data are securely backed up to off-site cloud servers and will remain safe throughout the event.
- Remote Work: While in-person operations are paused, we are set up to handle urgent communications and planning remotely.
- Equipment Secured: Our production and post-production gear is safely stored and secured within our premises.
What This Means for Our Clients
- Existing Projects: Your project is our priority. We will be in touch immediately once the situation stabilises to provide updates and adjust timelines as needed.
- Urgent Enquiries: For critical, time-sensitive enquiries, please use the emergency number provided in your contract. We will respond as conditions permit.
We encourage everyone in the area to take the warnings seriously. Please finalise your preparations, stay off the roads, and follow the latest advice from the SES and local authorities.

We hope for the best outcome for our beautiful region and look forward to being back behind the camera once the storm has passed.

We’re thrilled to lift the curtain on one of our latest and most exciting projects: producing a cutting-edge commercial for DK Electronics!

DK Electronics is a leader in its field, known for innovation and quality, and it was our privilege to partner with them to bring their newest product line to life on screen. This project was a perfect opportunity for the JMA Films team to put our signature blend of documentary-style storytelling and polished, cinematic execution into action.

In the studio, we leveraged our state-of-the-art 4K broadcast cameras and professional lighting setups to ensure every frame captured the precision and quality of the DK Electronics brand. JMA Films Hits the Studio for DK Electronics Commercial

Lights, camera, action!

Here at JMA Films, we recently had the pleasure of stepping into the world of high-tech with a commercial shoot for DK Electronics. Our team traded the scenic landscapes we’re known for (though Brisbane never disappoints!) for the controlled environment of a professional studio.

While filming on location offers its own unique charm, there’s something undeniably exciting about the creative possibilities of a studio setting. We were able to craft the perfect backdrop to showcase DK Electronics’ latest gadgets, utilizing controlled lighting and green screens to create a dynamic and visually stunning commercial.

The energy on set was electric. Our crew collaborated seamlessly with the DK Electronics team, ensuring every shot captured the excitement and innovation their products represent. From carefully choreographed product demonstrations to captivating close-ups, we focused on creating a commercial that would grab viewers’ attention and leave them wanting more.

Working in the studio presented some interesting challenges, but our team thrives on finding creative solutions. We utilized our expertise in camera angles and lighting to create a visually engaging experience, all while keeping the focus on the incredible products from DK Electronics.

Reflecting on 2024: Highs, Lows, and a Commitment to Progress

As 2024 draws to a close, it’s time to reflect on the past year – a year that has been a mix of triumphs and challenges for JMA Films. While we celebrate significant achievements, we also acknowledge the difficult experiences that have shaped our journey and strengthened our resolve.

This year has seen us continue our commitment to telling important stories, capturing the beauty of rural Queensland and beyond. We’ve also expanded our services into the IT sector, offering comprehensive solutions from website development to complex TV network builds, leveraging the expertise of our internal team and our network of talented engineers. This expansion has opened up new avenues for growth and allowed us to provide even more comprehensive support to our clients.

One of the undeniable highlights of 2024 was the recognition of our Director of Photography, Marton Dobras, who received a Bronze Award from the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) in the Current Affairs category. This prestigious award, for his work on the Landline story about Onion Farmers, is a testament to Marton’s exceptional talent and dedication to his craft. We’re incredibly proud of his achievement and the recognition it brings to our team.

However, 2024 has also presented us with significant challenges. We faced an instance of discrimination within our own sphere, a stark reminder that prejudice and bias continue to exist. This experience, while difficult, has reinforced our commitment to fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect. We firmly believe that there is no excuse for discrimination in any form, and we will continue to use our platform to advocate for equality and justice. As we stated earlier this year, echoing the powerful words of Martin Luther King Jr., “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” We remain steadfast in our commitment to speaking out against injustice and promoting a world where everyone feels valued and respected.

This year has been a powerful reminder that progress is not always linear. There will be highs and lows, celebrations and setbacks. But it’s how we respond to these experiences that truly defines us. At JMA Films, we are committed to learning from our challenges, celebrating our successes, and continuing to strive for a better future.
